Her Passion

Most people would think that Black was passionate about singing. However, her passion is actually the extreme and uncontrollable hate for her critics that effectively motivated her to become a famous singer she is today.
Even though the hate comments reached extreme levels including death threats, Black was not defeated by it, but fought it with her hatred. She said, “I decided not to give the haters the satisfaction that they got me so bad I gave up,” refusing to take the video, "Friday" down from YouTube even though the hostile comments continued. She hated her critics so much that instead of backing down and being depressed, she wanted to prove them that she has a great talent as a singer.

Her passion is clear in her song that she produced after “Friday” called “My Moment.”Within the first 36 hours after the release, her second song had over 6 million views on Youtube. The Lyrics to "My Moment" show her hatred, or her passion, toward the critics:

Were you the one who said that I would be nothing

Well, I'm about to prove you wrong
I'm not the only one who believes in something
My one wish is about to come true

I'm not stopping for you
No matter what you do
I'll just keep on dreaming

My head up in the clouds when nobody is around to see

This is my moment, my moment
It's my time, flying high, lime, mine
Feels like my moment, my moment
I've waited for so long
But now everybody knows this is my moment, my moment

It's my time, flying high, lime, mine
Feels like my moment, my moment
I've waited for so long
But now everybody knows this is my moment, my moment

You knew it all along, I was afraid of you
I thought I couldn't be myself
You tried to be my friend
But I wouldn't let you
Remember what you said
Don't miss out on your chance
Your life is in your hands
So take it just as far as you can
But trusting in youself, forget everyone else

Believe

This is my moment, my moment
It's my time, flying high, lime, mine
Feels like my moment, my moment
I've waited for so long
But now everybody knows this is my moment, my moment

It's my time, flying high, lime, mine
Feels like my moment, my moment
I've waited for so long
But now everybody knows

Haters, said I'll see you later
Can't talk to you right now
I'm getting my paper
Said I'm doing big things
Things you never dreamed of
I hope you are happy cause I'm 'bout to blow up

This is my moment, my moment
It's my time, flying high, lime, mine
Feels like my moment, my moment
I've waited for so long
But now everybody knows this is my moment, my moment

It's my time, flying high, lime, mine
Feels like my moment, my moment
I've waited for so long
But now everybody knows this is my moment, my moment

The lyrics highlighted in blue significantly represent her passion for her critics, which motivated her to achieve great accomplishments that she would not have been capable to attain without it. Black's emotions are very clear in the chorus, as she mentions that it is her moment, and she is not going to let anyone interrupt it. Black also effectively addresses her haters in the throughout the song, telling them that she does not have the time to deal with them. Her passion, her anger and hatred toward the cyber bullies online had urged her to produce this new single, marking the beginning of her successful musical career.

In fact, Black had suppressed many haters with "My Moment." Black’s invincible core had proved her critics that she was not weak, unwilling to give up. Soon, people began to accept her talents and even appreciate her viral video, Friday, more and more people gradually started to stick up for her.

Moreover, artists like Nick and Joe Jonas as well as Justin Bieber tweeted “Friday” lyrics and performed the song in their concerts. Lady Gaga had said, “Rebecca Black is genius,” and invited her to perform “Friday” with her on stage at Katy Perry’s sold-out concert in Los Angeles. Black also co-starred with Perry’s number one single, “Last Friday Night” music video. Even the TV show, “Glee,” performed “Friday.” Seeing her passionate hate, many people sided with her and supported her. Thus, without Black's strong anger and dislike toward the tormentors online, she would not be a prosperous musician that she is today.
